Where Art Meets Life
Life has an interesting way of keeping us on our toes. From our high moments, to our lows, it's never an easy journey, especially when we are trying to stand up for ourselves, our family, our goals and our dreams.
When we go against the grain or step out of the norm, our world often feel a bit more lonely and unsteady. It's scary to do life differenly, which is why sticking to the plan, taking the path more travelled, relying on other people's approval and keeping our views narrow often seems like the easiest and safest thing to do.
For me, that is where art meets me just when I need it.
It's the thing I turn to when I just need to loosen that grip. To remind myself that I don't have to blend in and do things like everyone else. Where I can be messy and loose. It's where I make the rules, then change them if I feel like it. Where I can do things differently and where I don't need to look at others for validation. Yes, this is the place I go when I need a bit of freedom. Aside from spending time in nature, making art is my therapy, always there when I need to step away from the noise and expectations. It is where art meets life.
What about you? What is the 'thing' that meets your life when you most need it? Where do you go when you need to lean into something? What is your practice to free your mind and dwell in the (unconventional) possibilities? Would love to hear from you!
