What is art to you?

I really want to dive into "all things art" over the next few months and I thought this video would be a great way to start. Art is everywhere, whether we realize it or not. We all interpret art and its meaning differently and that is one reason why there is so much beauty and diversity in it. I think its sometimes difficult to understand where we draw the line from what art is and what it isn't. I like the simple way Milton Glaser defines the question. In an interview with Big Think, Glaser states: "My distinction is if it moves you to attentiveness, it is art. If it doesn't, it's something else."

We all gravitate to different forms of art and thats a good thing. Whether its painting, drawing, photography, performing arts, dance, design, all these things are capable of introducing ideas, igniting creativity and welcoming diversity. Art has deep roots in culture, communication and religion, and it is a powerful mechanism for change. Therefore, the more we recognize art and the power of creativity everyday, the more we can begin to see it as a significant part of the beauty and bounty of the world around us. We are all artists in some capacity, therefore acknowledge it, embrace it & participate in it.
