Six Outside-the-Box Ways to Use Splendid Coloring Pages

How to Use the Splendid Coloring Book by Katie Gebely

A few weeks ago, I made my Splendid Coloring Book available for download. It's been so fun to see people filling in the pages and making them their own. I've encouraged those who have bought the book to share their progress using #splendidcoloring. The reviews have been great! So I wanted to take moment to let you know that the pages are not just to be kept in book-form. Since you print the book yourself, you get a collection of 25 hand-drawn images which each print out separately. That means, you don't have to keep them together if you don't want to. They can be used for many other things, oh yes! And the best part is, once downloaded, you can print the pages out as many times as you'd like!  The possibilities are endless! Here are a few things I've done with the pages:

Wall Art

These pages look spectacular behind a white frame! It's such an easy way to lighten up a space and add an artful touch to your home. Whether you choose to color in the page or not, the frame really does make the artwork shine. You can find affordable frames at Target, IKEA and Michaels. Be sure that the frame comes with a hanging mechanism on the back to make installing easier. Or, just lean on a shelf as I did here.

Gift Wrap

This couldn't be easier! Whether you color in the pages or leave them blank, the pages are perfect for wrapping small gifts and packages. It's a great way to add a personal touch. Don't forget to add some ribbon or a bow!

Progress Map

A progress map is a way to see your progress based on goals you set. Each time do something towards that goal, you fill in one section of your "map." I do this with my workout routine. Everyday I go to the gym, I fill in a section until the whole image is colored in. Then, once complete, I treat myself to something special! By actually seeing your progress, you are motivated to stick to your goals and make things happen.

Bookmark

Easy, peasy! Just cut a rectangle out of one of your pages and use it as a bookmark! This is great for any age. I recommend printing on card stock (and even laminating if you can), to make the bookmark extra durable.

Envelopes

Thanks to my envelope template kit from Paper Source, I'm able to make these pages into quirky envelopes! Perfect for anyone who adores sending hand-written notes in the mail as much as I do!

Notebook Cover

I use a lot of 3-ring binders. And I love the ones where I'm able to add my own cover. These pages are great for this! The one pictured is a mini 5.5 x 8.5 inch binder, but pages also fit the standard size.
