Project: Tote bag

I've been wanting to learn how to sew for a really long time and thanks to my BFF who got her hands on a vintage sewing machine and gifted it to me (I know, she's awesome), I was finally ready to begin this venture!  I went crazy at the local fabric store and bought as much cute fabric as I could in anticipation of my soon to be sewing madness.  Then I discovered Creative Bug, an online hub for art and craft instruction. They happened to be offering a free class on how to make a market tote bag and since I have a slight obsession with bags and purses and anything that holds stuff, I decided to give it a go.  I ended up making a few for Christmas presents and was really happy with the results.  It was a perfect beginners project, easy enough to follow along and lots of straight lines to sew, but also just enough challenge to make it satisfying.
